Examines the evolution of world energy markets through 2010. World demand for energy is expected to increase significantly through the first decade of the next century as population and real income rise. Demand will increase in OECD countries but growth will be strongest in non-OECD countries - particularly in China, India, and the dynamic Asian economies. By 2010, OECD countries will account for less than half of total world oil consumption. On the supply side, the study projects a large increase in the role of natural gas, especially in Europe.
